In the workshop of sculptor Yiannis Pappas the children get to know the life and works of the artist, sculptures, paintings and drawings and are guided to his personal workplace, where they have the opportunity to work with the materials and methods he used.
The staff of Yiannis Pappas Studio use an experiential way to introduce the artist to the children. They guide them in his art world, his sculptures, as well as his paintings and drawings, including his personal workspace. In this way the children experience their initiation into the world of sculpture. The Yiannis Pappas Studio and its works become an introduction to the art of sculpture and painting through the methods, techniques, materials and tools used by the artist.
The visit of the children at the Ghika Gallery combines both Language and Image. Paintings and sculptures capturing moments of life, sometimes of the children themselves, are commented upon, together with poems of similar theme. Family bonds as well as relationships with friends and beloved ones inspired a considerable number of artists and are depicted in a variety of ways in the works of art. Students will collect the words that also reflect their own reality to finally compose them into a haiku.
The programme was designed in collaboration with Keli Daskala, philologist and coordinator of creative writing workshops.
Objects of the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic era of the Ancient Collection become the necessary setting to "transfer" the students to an ancient city and to learn the way of life of its people.
Selected objects of the Ancient Collection illuminate important aspects of the everyday life of people from the Archaic to the Hellenistic years, while an excerpt from the "Ecclesiazusae" of Aristophanes gives rise to a theatrical play and discussion.
"Tour" in the first centuries of the artistic creation of the people who lived in the Hellenic area and the Aegean islands with short stops in the most characteristic objects of the prehistoric times.
In the footsteps of the first artists, the students create on clay their own works.
We invite you to discover the objects of the Modern Greek Collection through telling a short story that reminds you of folk tales. Your participation in the evolution of history will be decisive, while the storytelling scenario will inspire you to perform paintings but also with theatrical play selected scenes.
